The
challenge
Quality education in Ethiopia is still concentrated in cities. GlobeDock needed a platform that puts structured courses and learning resources in the hands of students wherever they are.
Yaltopia Tech developed GlobeDock Academy, a comprehensive e-learning platform designed to expand access to quality education beyond urban centers. Students get digital learning resources, structured courses and educational content, accessible from anywhere.
Yaltopia also supported digital literacy and onboarding initiatives so students could use online learning tools effectively, increasing accessibility and engagement across diverse communities.
How we
did it
Most structured learning in Ethiopia happens in a classroom in a major city. Students outside those centres had no reliable way to follow a full course, and many were using an online learning tool for the first time. GlobeDock wanted to close that gap with one platform students could reach from any device.
Our approach
We started with discovery and design in late 2022, mapping how students actually learn: in short sessions, often on a phone and on everyday mobile data. That shaped a course structure of paths, lessons and progress tracking that works self-paced, and a content library built to stream on modest connections.
We then built one learning experience across web, Android and iOS, so a student can start a lesson on a laptop and finish it on a phone. Alongside the build, Yaltopia ran digital literacy and onboarding sessions so first-time learners were comfortable using the platform, not just able to install it.
The outcome
GlobeDock Academy launched in 2023 and has since reached more than 1,000 learners, with over 8 million views across its content ecosystem. Yaltopia continues to support growth after launch.
